Welcome to Marika Africa Sweets Limited. We are located on Plot 2729 Ttula Road, Kawempe – Kyadondo in Kampala. Marika Africa sweets Ltd was incorporated as a company in 2007. We have grown tremendously from producing only one product “Marika Sweets”, to other products like Marika Icing Sugar, Marika Corn Flour and Marika Mandazi Baking Powder. Currently, Marika Curry Powder is the most recent product. We are the leading confectioner in Africa. Our products are known for quality. This is due to the caution at every stage of production. We have a standard & quality assurance team.  The quality assurance department oversees the entire production process.


Marika has excelled. This is based on three aspects. These aspects are unsurpassed taste, enormous variety of quality products and consistent high quality levels. The three reasons justify the regional appeal of the diverse products.

At Marika we constantly monitor quality control. This is done by supervising the production process up to the finished product. Here, the production supervisor, technician and quality controller work together. The raw materials used are certified by POVc under UNBS standards.  The major ingredients used are from natural foods. Some are imported from well known quality manufacturers, the most significant being refined-sugar and liquid glucose. These we utilize to make superior products.

What we pride in

Marika Africa Sweets Ltd has expanded its capacity. It’s products range from local market and extends to the East African region. All our products are certified by UNBS standards. Currently we are working towards ISO certification.  Our products are fortified through the production processes. We achieve this through the principles shown:

CONTINOUS PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT
Continuous Product Improvement involves all technical persons being vibrant in their respective fields of specialization. It requires use of the right ingredients. These take on appropriate regulations with possible interactions between the various components and responsible staff. At this stage, the required physical form is integrated with quality control procedures. All are defined in our laboratory where tests, checks and balances are carried out. These progresses in developing the application proceedings in the quality control department.  The marketing and sales departments are time and again consulted of the customer’s views in relation to the products released.

QUALITY CONTROL
Each batch of manufactured product is analyzed in-depth by the Quality Control Officer. It is checked and released to the market with a seal, packaged, manufacturing date, expiry dates and properly weighed.  The analysis equipment and working system complies with both the Uganda National Bureau of Standards and with international standards. This allows us to assure reliability of our results.

CONTINUOUS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
Our production process is regularly examined. This is to establish and apply improvements that will allow effectiveness and reliability of our work. This continuous assessment considers the technological advancements developed. The client’s views, recommendations of auditor, and external visitors, with comments from our customers are very helpful to our product perfection.

THE TECHNICAL TEAM
Our technical team is comprised of chemists and engineers. These are specialized in diverse areas to include product development, analysis, food production processes and legal implications as may be required. This diversity allows us to start new development from relevant points of view. The achievements are complemented by the opinions of our Marketing department and customers. This is assurance enough to justify that our products meet the customer’s needs.

STATE-OF-THE-ART MACHINERY

We have installed state-of-the-art machinery. These are majorly placed in reinforced concrete and stainless steel structural plants, which make it possible to manufacture standard goods. Such products are produced in good high hygiene facilities, designed according to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS). Storage of goods and transportation of products to the market is also appropriate. In case of failure the Quality Assurance Team is always ready to intervene. This is to enable good quality products.

Our Story

Marika History

Marika Africa sweets Ltd was incorporated as a company in 2007.  Through the years, Marika has tremendously excelled in its different departments and aspects, Human Resource and production. From a work force of 3 permanent employees and 3 casual employees to a work force of over 50 permanent and casual employees with State-Of-The-Art machinery. 

We have grown tremendously from producing only one product “Marika Sweets”, to other products like Marika Icing Sugar, Marika Corn Flour, Marika Mandazi Baking Powder, among others. 

All these are based on three aspects. Unsurpassed taste, Enormous Variety of quality products and consistent high quality levels. The three reasons justify the regional appeal of the diverse products.

Our Directors dreamt of  starting a leading quality confectionery company in Uganda that will spread all over Africa

Research & Development

The Idea was open to research and development, different entities were contacted at different levels, it was a process. 

18April2007

Registered and Incorporated

We were fully incorporated in Uganda as Marika Africa Sweets Ltd on 18th April, 2007 with a workforce of 6 employees.
